The Municipal ArcView Query Manager has been developed with municipal end users in mind, especially those with very little or no formal GIS experience. It has been designed to be easy-to-use, easy-to-train, and to provide real, tangible value from the first day it is installed. Additionally, it is designed to grow with the community. As more Departments and Boards begin to use the GIS, the Query Manager can expand to meet their specific needs and requirements.
Including:
- Automated Printing Utility
- Location of Parcel (by owner name, map & lot, location, etc.)
- Abutters List Query
- Property Assessment Query
- "Quick Map" Tool
- Area of Interest Function
- Link Related Photos and other images
CAI began developing its ArcView Municipal Query Software for clients in 1996. The concepts and utility of this dynamic software package came directly from the needs expressed by various Municipal Departments, Boards, and Offices. Every step of this product's development took advantage of this critical exchange of information and continues to do so today. This software takes advantage of current technology and provides convenient, easy-to-use, easy-to-remember, time-saving solutions to Municipal GIS users.

Locating a Parcel (or Parcels) Query
This query links to data export files of Municipal database systems (i.e. CAMA, Billing) and locates parcels based on the owner's name, property address, map and lot number, parcels along a given street, and/or parcels contained on a given tax map sheet. Once a parcel is located, the user has the option to print a map of the located parcel(s), view tabular data about the parcel(s), and/or print a report summarizing tabular information. This query can also hot link to related digital files.Property Assessment Query
This query links to data export files of municipal database systems (i.e. CAMA, Billing) and allows the user to locate parcels based on any attribute contained in those system databases. For example, it will allow the user to select all properties greater than 5 acres, with a single family dwelling which contains 3 or more bedrooms, with oil heat, that sold last year. It provides standard reporting features that post the selected parcels to the computer screen or prints them to the printer. Tabular reports can also be easily generated and produced. This query is a very powerful investigative tool.
Performing an Abutters List Query
This query links to data export files of Municipal database systems (i.e. CAMA, Billing) and allows the user to locate a parcel for which an abutters list is to be generated. The parcel to be selected can be located by owner's name, property address, and/or map and lot number. The user can set a buffer (search) distance around the selected parcel that will instruct the query to how far away from the selected parcel to look for its abutters. In addition, the query provides tools to add or remove parcels from the initial selection and allows multiple parcels to be selected at one time. For reporting, this query provides several features: it will print a map of the abutters list to in-house printers and plotters, it will print structured reports, form letters, and mailing labels to a printer, and it will export the selected records to disk. This query is a complete solution for performing Municipal abutters lists. The "Quick Map" Tool
This tool allows the user to thematically define any map and save that map for quick retrieval. Once set up, a user can quickly toggle through all available maps in the GIS system (i.e soils, wetlands, parcels, flood plains, etc.). This function makes it very easy for novice GIS users to display the maps they need to view and use.Area of Interest Function
This function allows the user to record spatial reference markers to important areas throughout the Municipality and provides a quick, convenient mechanism to return to that location. This is very useful if several projects are going on throughout the community and users of the GIS frequently need to zoom into those project areas for the generation of maps or while giving presentations.Display a CAD and other digital images
This query allows the user to display the individual maps and image data in ArcView. It is a quick way to reference the current, individual tax maps sheets and other associated digital documents.
Automated Map Printing Utility
This query helps the user create and print maps to in-house printers and plotters. Several standard paper sizes and map layouts are pre-defined for user convenience. This query allows users to simply enter a title for their map, set a scale, and press the print button.
